SC Karate Bestensee e.V.

SC Karate Bestensee was officially founded in 1990 after its roots in the early 1980s, when karate was practiced semi-legally in the DDR under the guise of judo. Since then, the club has grown steadily, becoming a member of major sports federations (DSB, KSB, DKV, KDB). Early highlights included seminars with pioneers like Axel Dziersk and world champion Marek Kielbasa. By 1992, members began competing successfully, with athletes such as Elke Kuntzsch winning multiple state titles and later becoming a 4th Dan trainer. The club established children’s groups in the mid-1990s, organized events like the “Tokaido Cup,” and continues to host summer camps for young karateka. Today, SC Karate Bestensee thrives as a community-oriented dojo, combining tradition, competition, and youth development.
