Judoabteilung des SV Sachsenwerk e.V. Dresden

Judo Department – SV Sachsenwerk Dresden e.V. was founded in 1950 as part of BSG Motor Dresden-Niedersedlitz. Over the decades, the club achieved multiple DDR championship titles and league successes, with notable athletes including Knoch, Fischer, Götze, Bastian, Küster, and Franke. Despite challenges such as relocations and declining membership, the department rebuilt strong youth and women’s groups, highlighted by Barbara Eckarth’s DDR title. After reunification, new leadership revitalized the club in the late 1990s, leading to tournament successes in Bremen, Paris, and national youth competitions. Since 2012, training has taken place at the modern gym of Dresden’s 93rd Primary School, where membership continues to grow.
