Capoeira - Centro Cultural Senzala London

Capoeira is an Afro Brazilian martial art.

Group Senzala was founded in the 1960s. Our branch of Centro Cultural Senzala de Capoeira was formed by Mestre Peixinho and his students.

In London, our teacher is Mestre Julio Sanhaço, a red belt student of the great Mestre Peixinho. He’s part of Grupo Senzala from Rio de Janeiro and has been teaching in London for over 20 years.

The group seeks to continue to develop the good work of Group Senzala in a physical sense, and emphasises developing an understanding of the cultural roots and origins of capoeira in order to help the student capoeirista develop a greater understanding of the game as a whole.
