About Us
Shiraoka Kendo Kai is a kendo dojo currently based in Bellshill and the only dojo practising kendo in the Lanarkshire area. It was founded in 2008 and led by Gareth Spiers 5th Dan Certified BKA Coach. They welcome those who wish to start kendo with beginner's courses and meet every Wednesday at 8:00pm at the Sir Matt Busby Leisure Centre in Bellshill. They teach kendo, a Japanese martial art that focuses on sword fighting, with an emphasis on discipline, self-control, and physical fitness. The dojo's goal is to promote kendo locally and nationwide, and they aim to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all members.
